I must admit I had a lot of different New Year posts ready to publish for you guys but I didn't know which tone to take. Light and funny? Deep and meaningful? Psychotic and on pills?
In the end I decided to write the truth. On New Years Eve I decided not to put any pressure on myself. True, I imagined myself in a short sparkly silver dress, holding a glass of champagne, whispering smart yet funny comments into the ear of a handsome hedge fund manager, but alas, that would have to happen another year because 2013 started out the exact opposite.
The last thing I remember was getting into bed and watching a few of my favorite reruns. By a little past ten I was asleep. I awoke the next day depressed and hysterical. No. no. DEPRESSED. and. HYSTERICAL. I suddenly got out of bed and cleaned out my entire room threw everything into storage, installed some new furniture, and finally brought in my new rug and curtains (which were piled outside the room for weeks). All the while I was cleaning I was crying heavy sobs. It was an eventful year filled with difficult decisions and transitions.
By late evening I was exhausted and my eyes looked like they had joined Fight Club. But I felt better and at that second I decided that 2013 was going to be a much better year than 2012.
And thankfully, it did start on an excellent note...but i'll keep all that for the next post, for now I'd like to tell everyone who had a less-than-perfect New Years Eve to hang in there and to know that you are not alone. We all have our ups and downs but the most important thing is to get up and move forward.
You are strong.
You are special.
You deserve to be happy.
Happy New Year!
Lots of love..
